April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month!
Did you know that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month? Every year, Child Abuse Prevention Month brings to light the fact that many do not realize the  peril our children can experience and have to deal with right here in Northwest Florida. There are  approximately 1,100 cases of child sexual and physical abuse reported annually in Okaloosa and Walton  Counties, an average of three a day! Despite those big numbers, nearly 2/3 of the actual needs to help child  victims go unmet due to lack of reporting to authorities.
We, the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center, are here to help these child abuse victims any way that we can. We provide services for young child abuse  victims and their families in a child-friendly environment. We have two centers, one in Niceville in Okaloosa County, and the Pierce Family Children's Advocacy Center in  DeFuniak Springs in Walton County. It is estimated that for every  one child ECCAC helps, there are two children out there who are not helped.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April and throughout the year, we encourage families to increase their awareness on strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect, focusing on positive parenting and keeping kids safe.
There are kids affected by child abuse and neglect in our community, but the most important thing to know about child abuse is that it is preventable.

HELP Stubbs Orthodontics help the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center! By liking Stubbs Ortho on social media, sharing their posts, writing reviews, checking into their office on social media, or donating money to the ECCAC via check at their office, you will be entered for a chance to WIN an Nintendo Switch!

Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program

We have been chosen by the Winn-Dixie located in Niceville as the latest non-profit to benefit from the Community Bag Program. This means that for the entire month of April, the ECCAC will receive a $1 donation every time a Community Bag is sold unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag.

All you have to do to support ECCAC is go to the Winn-Dixie located in Niceville throughout the month of April and pick up a bag! You can find the two colorful reusable Community Bags with the Giving Tag on the reusable bag rack at the store. The key is to look for the bags with a tag that features a blue heart with $1 in it.

February Advocacy Alert
Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center February Newsletter
Pierce Family /   Donate  /   Events  /   Services
It was with much sadness that we had to say goodbye to our fearless COO,  Pat Franklin, at the end of 2017.  Pat touched just about every aspect of the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center. From making sure victims received the care they deserved, to managing repairs in both Centers (she is now an AC technician ), and making sure our staff was cared for, she  did it all with a smile, and a very calming presence. We will miss her tremendously and wish her luck as she continues her career in Tallahassee with DCF.

As Pat steps out, Jennifer Clark steps in. Jennifer has been with ECCAC for many years as a mental health advocate, and most recently as the  child abuse program prevention manager. Congratulations Jennifer!
