Get to know our Board Member, Tom Saffel!
 
Tom Saffel, a Santa Rosa Beach resident in South Walton County for the past 13 years, recently retired and joined the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center's Board of Directors. 
Saffel retired as a Business Development Manager working in sales coordination with key national customers for Kimberly Clark. He and his wife of 37 years, Dana, have made Santa Rosa Beach their "forever home". They have two grown sons. The Saffel's are annual contributors to Alaqua Animal Rescue, Sinfonia, American Cancer Society and Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation.
"I hope to bring my marketing, sales, interpersonal skills and financial background to the ECCAC Board," said Saffel. "When we moved here, we discovered how amazing this community is at giving back, unlike we've ever experienced in previous locations. I am motivated to be a part of the team and help the centers expand their support of abused children and get a little closer to there no longer being a need for ECCAC to exist. That would be a good thing."


We are excited to be partnering with Cook Family Dentistry in Santa Rosa Beach as they host a Summer Toothbrush Drive for us! They will match all donations of toothbrushes that are donated between now and August 1, 2019. Dental hygiene is so important and we are thankful that they are willing to help our children in this aspect that need it. Please consider donating one or two toothbrushes this summer!



 Bring yourself and your BFF's to this entertaining ladies night out at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, upstairs in the 560 space on Thursday, September 5th.

We're changing up the theme this year to Great Gatsby. So get your flapper dresses, sequins, ruffled skirts, pearls, etc. together for a night you don't want to miss out on!

Ladies will pick from an assortment of wigs and will be whisked off to the Avant Garde Aveda styling station to make sure they are all glamoured up for the evening.

Filled with libations, food, fun, DJ Vladi, and other happenings, the 5th Annual Wiggin' Out For A Cause will benefit the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center.

VIP tickets will start out at $100 and General Admission tickets will start out at $75.
VIP Private Party will be from 5:30-6:30pm and the Main Event will be from 6:30-9:30pm.

Join us Sunday, September 29th for the 4th Annual Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament benefitting the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center.

This double elimination tournament is limited to 100 teams and registration will open soon so stay tuned!

We will need volunteers for both Wiggin' Out (September 5th) and the Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament (September 29th). More volunteer information and details coming soon.

Our amazing therapy team was recognized as Community Provider of the Year by our partners - the First Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program! We think this award truly exemplifies the souls of our therapists. 

The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation's trophy for most funds raised at our 2019 Patron Dinner hosted by Candis and Jack Wilson was given to a child for their graduation from our Mental Health Program last month!

A note from their therapist:

"I wanted to let you know that the trophy found a great home today....

Today I greeted a child in the lobby knowing it may be the last time I ever see them. It's always a bittersweet feeling, but feelings of pride and joy take over, knowing they stuck it out and worked so hard for almost a year to get to this point. Before celebrating with a paint party, this child was presented with this trophy and a certificate of completion for being so brave and strong through this difficult process and to show them how amazing it is that they crossed the finish line! So please help me wish them a Happy Graduation!"

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our 2019 Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The MOA is ECCAC's annual interdisciplinary commitment to sharing information and resources to enhance the investigation and prosecution of child physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect cases as well as to facilitate treatment of child victims and their families between various agencies in Okaloosa and Walton Counties.

It was with much sadness that we had to say goodbye to our fearless COO,  Pat Franklin, at the end of 2017.  Pat touched just about every aspect of the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center. From making sure victims received the care they deserved, to managing repairs in both Centers (she is now an AC technician ), and making sure our staff was cared for, she  did it all with a smile, and a very calming presence. We will miss her tremendously and wish her luck as she continues her career in Tallahassee with DCF.
 
As Pat steps out, Jennifer Clark steps in. Jennifer has been with ECCAC for many years as a mental health advocate, and most recently as the  child abuse program prevention manager. Congratulations Jennifer!

Tour Our Centers

We invite you to tour our Centers! Tours will take monthly at each center from 10am until 2pm. February tours will take place on Tuesday, February 27 in DeFuniak Springs and Thursday, February 22 in Niceville. If you can't make either, please contact Kim (850-833-9237 ext 283) or Chelsea (ext 256) for a private tour. We would love to show you what your support means to our community.


We are currently looking for volunteers for the 5th Annual Tequila and Tacos Fest on Saturday, March 10 at Harborwalk Village! All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt as well as food during their shift and an after event pizza/beer party.
Available shifts are:
Fri, Mar 9
Set up 2pm to 6pm
Sat, Mar 10
Set up then move to ticketing 9am to 230pm
Ticketing 11am to 6pm
Drink or food booths 11am to 6pm
Runners 11am to 6pm
Judges helpers 11am to 6pm
Armband checkers 11am to 6pm

Seagar's hosted the ECCAC Appreciation Party, and we had a wonderful evening tasting their fine wines and sampling a few of their delectable appetizers! We would like to thank Charlotte, Will, and Chef Laurie for their incredible hospitality and for hosting us! 

A big THANK YOU to the Village of Baytowne Wharf for donating the proceeds of the Baytowne Beer Festival to the ECCAC! $3,000 was raised at this annual festival, and we are so grateful we got to be a part of it! 

Thank you to Northwest Florida State College for donating water to our Centers! Kelsey King with the college dropped off these waters, and we are so grateful for the incredible support from our community! 

The Army Aviation Federal Credit Union dropped by and donated $500 to the ECCAC, and we are so thankful for their continued support! 

Congratulations are in order, because Kelly Henderson was awarded the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Investigator of the Year!
